PhotoLocate

The name “PhotoLocate” is very apt (or appropriate if you want a long word!) for our photography. Most of Mike’s interest lies in the world that he sees around, particularly the Natural History of our earth and the scenery. This is usually called “Landscape”. But have you ever tried to describe what constitutes a Landscape? We usually think of some rural idyllic view, but it could be an image of an urban space. How about this view of Horse Guards’ Parade in London, photographed from the London Eye.

Come back again for a few more variations on this theme.  In the meantime let me have your views as to what constitutes a Landscape.

Landscapes

Let’s have a look at what is probably a conventional landscape image.  This one was taken last autumn at the Studley Royal end of the Fountains Abbey complex.  Here I have tried to convey “space” and distance as well as the beauty of the scene.

There is a lovely shape to the picture with the line of water leading to the distant view of Huby’s Tower. I remember having to wait for the wind to drop to get the best reflection.  Have I succeeded? What do you think?
